Privacy policy
Effective 15 September 2026
vedro has no accounts. Trips and vehicle preferences are tied to your device, not to your identity.
Location
vedro requests precise location to plan routes, place you on the map, and score the weather along your path. Location is used only for this app functionality. It is not linked to your identity and is never used for advertising or tracking.
What's on your device vs. what's sent to plan a route
There is no sign-up and no account. To plan a route and its weather, your app sends the relevant coordinates to vedro's own server, which in turn queries:
- Mapbox, for routing and place search. Map rendering uses Mapbox's SDK inside the app, so map tiles are requested from Mapbox by your device rather than through Vedro's server.
- Open-Meteo, for weather forecasts along your route.
These requests are not tied to an account, because vedro doesn't have one. Mapbox's map SDK and routing calls run under Mapbox's own terms, which can include the request metadata typical of a mapping service (things like IP address and device identifiers) as described in its policy. See Mapbox's privacy policy and Open-Meteo's terms for how each service handles the requests it receives.
Voice guidance
Vedro uses your phone's text-to-speech engine for spoken directions and callouts. Vedro does not record your voice or upload audio recordings. Speech processing depends on the engine and voice installed on your phone; its provider's settings and privacy terms apply.
Notifications
vedro does not currently send push notifications and has no push-messaging service integrated. Any weather-turn or camera alert you receive while a trip is open is generated on-device from data already on your phone, not delivered as a push message.
This website
The website uses no analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies. It's hosted on GitHub Pages, which GitHub states logs and stores visitors' IP addresses for security purposes, so hosting itself is not a zero-data service even though this site adds no tracking of its own. See GitHub's Privacy Statement.
What vedro does not do
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, and no ad SDKs.
- No analytics or crash-tracking SDKs that build a profile of you.
- No selling or sharing of your data with third parties for their own purposes.
- All network traffic uses standard HTTPS.
Your choices
You can revoke location permission at any time in your device's system settings. Features that need your current position will then be unavailable. You can also remove locally stored app data through your device's settings.
Support correspondence
If you email support, I receive your email address, your message, and anything you choose to attach. My email provider also processes those messages. I use them to answer questions and fix problems, and I don't add you to a marketing list.
